Notifications and reminders

Last updated

Choose your channels

Open Settings → General → Notifications. Both channels start off. You can save an ntfy topic URL for push alerts and enable the daily email digest. Each channel has a Send test notification button; test sends bypass its off switch and push quiet hours, so use a destination you control.

The ntfy topic URL is a secret: anyone who knows an unprotected topic can read it. Use a long random topic name or an ntfy access token. Saved credentials are masked after saving. Never put them in a ticket.

What messages contain

New questions, decisions, approvals, dependency proposals, reviews and stale runs can reach you without the app open. Nearby alerts are grouped. External messages carry ticket keys, titles and inbox links, never request text, answers, evidence or secrets. A notification is a prompt to open the app, not authority to approve anything.

Quiet hours and digest

Push quiet hours use the app's configured time zone, Europe/London by default. Alerts are held for a grouped summary when quiet hours end; the original cause may already have cleared. The daily email digest runs at 09:00 in that zone and is skipped when the Inbox is empty. Delivery depends on the channel being enabled and its destination working.

When no channel is enabled

The app offers a dismissible prompt to set up push or the daily digest. Dismissing it is saved; you can still configure channels in Settings → General → Notifications.

If a stale-run alert or unanswered-request reminder becomes due while both channels are off, Overview and the Inbox show it under Alerts that could not be delivered with a link and the time it became due. It clears when the underlying item no longer needs attention. These alerts contain only ticket keys, titles and links, never the question or approval content. Enabling a channel does not itself resolve an existing item. Turning reminders off stops new reminders; an already recorded alert stays until its request is resolved.

Unanswered request reminders

Reminders start off. Enable them and choose 1–168 whole hours, default 4. Enabling starts a fresh delay even for existing requests. Only open questions, decisions and approvals on still-waiting blocked runs qualify; the job rechecks before sending.

Push reminders follow quiet hours. Email reminders are notes inside the daily digest, not extra emails. Missed windows collapse. Each channel attempts at most once per request per delay window; an uncertain delivery is not retried until a later window, so a reminder can be lost. It may include up to ten other blocked ticket keys and a remainder count, never their titles or request content.

See the Inbox for answering requests, and plans for the current release boundary.
